We publish original works of speculative fiction with an emphasis on non-traditional storytelling and multicultural characters. We want our authors to break the rules, and then rewrite them. As an independent digital press, we only accept works under 50,000 words. We are specifically seeking manuscripts that fall under the umbrella of dystopian speculative fiction (which may include the sub-genres of new adult, contemporary and historical romance, erotica and horror).
We are not interested in religious fiction, young adult fiction or non-fiction works of any kind. In addition we do not accept works that depict pedophilia, incest, bestiality, snuff or other forms of extreme fetish play.
We encourage diversity, and prefer manuscripts with non-traditional heroines and heroes. Our target audience is mid-twenties and up, so characters and situations should reflect a mature audience. We work with both fledgling and experienced authors.
Our One Dollar Holler (seasonal) series features stories in the following categories:
- Steampunk – Romance | Erotica | Horror – m/f, f/f, m/m coupling
- Historical – Mysticism – Romance | Erotica | Horror – m/f, f/f, m/m coupling
- Modern – Horror | Thriller – m/f, f/f, m/m coupling
This year’s showcase themes are as follows:
- Autumn – Changing | Reflection | Insight
- Winter – love| longevity | Nesting
- Spring – Awakenings | Purging
- Summer – Intense But Brief Encounters
We offer some of the most competitive royalty rates in the industry. We do not offer advances.
Please be sure to edit and refine your work before submitting and ensure that it is complete. Any unfinished manuscripts we receive will be rejected. Sometimes 25,000 words fall short of telling the story you want. In certain cases, we accept serialized fiction, but series cannot extend beyond three individual stories and must follow the overall themes of the seasonal quarterlies.
